Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (also called palmitoyl pentapeptide, Dermaxyl, or Matrixyl) is a synthetic amino-peptide that boosts collagen, elastin, and glucosaminoglycans production.
It is clinically verified to decrease wrinkle depth by improving hyaluronic acid and collagen production. In a way, PO is a lab-engineered predecessor to collagen. It was designed to function similarly to retinoic acid but without side effects.
Research shows that creams containing a 3% concentration of PO used daily for 28 days reduced the depth of prominent wrinkles by 39%, while the mean depth of wrinkles decreased by 23%. The increase in the skin thickness is exceptionally notable at 4%, compared to the 6% reduction that occurs after a decade!
